A group of 14 students, faculty and staff from the University of Louisville will leave March 9 for a 10-day study abroad program in Havana, Cuba.

More than 1,200 people, including dozens of Fort Knox soldiers, packed the University of Louisville’s Brown and Williamson Club Thursday night to hear U.S. Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta talk about budget cutting, cyber warfare and public service.

After performing for more than 30 years and for as many as 150,000 theater-goers, the University of Louisville Department of Theatre Arts Repertory Company will make its first public appearance March 7 when the group performs two UofL faculty-written plays to raise money for the theater program.

At a March 1 meeting, the University of Louisville Board of Trustees Finance Committee approved capital construction projects to improve storm water drainage on the Belknap Campus.

University of Louisville Health Sciences Center leaders were among those in the metro area honored for their influence in the health care business, an annual recognition by Business First magazine. UofL boasted 20 winners, including UofL President James Ramsey.

Toni M. Ganzel will serve as interim dean of the University of Louisville School of Medicine effective March 20.

The Association of Black Students and the Black Diamond Choir recognized several outstanding individuals and groups at the “Continuing the Legacy Banquet - A Celebration of African Americans at the University of Louisville.” The event was Feb. 28 at the Student Activities Center Multipurpose Room.
