The decision to say #UofLYes is usually shaped by a combination of factors. The university鈥檚 academic reputation, financial assistance offerings and numerous opportunities inside and outside the classroom are often mentioned. For many, a campus visit brings those possibilities to life.
Madison Bush is a Louisville native and UofL alumna returning this fall as a first-year medical student.
鈥淚 chose UofL for both my undergraduate education and medical school because of the sense of community. Academics are important, but feeling connected to the people and the city around you matters just as much. Louisville is home, and being able to give back to the community that helped raise me is something that鈥檚 really meaningful to me,鈥 Bush said.
Before class has even started, Bush said she鈥檚 seeing real ways UofL supports students on their chosen career path.
鈥淚n orientation, we鈥檝e already learned about the importance of community, professionalism and resilience while also being introduced to the many resources available to support us. It鈥檚 been exciting to see how invested the聽is in helping students succeed.鈥
For Keile Allen, an incoming first-year student from Mayfield, Ky., the decision came easy after weighing her options and visiting campus. She chose UofL to pursue a bachelor of science in business administration through the聽.
鈥淲hen college application season rolled around, I narrowed down my options through campus tours, comparisons of potential financial aid and research on the various opportunities each college could provide. My examination of these factors pointed me to one school鈥 the University of Louisville,鈥 Allen said.
She said New Card Orientation has been helpful in her college transition and introduced her to resources and current students who can aid in navigating her first year.
鈥淏y allowing me to ask current students questions and choose breakout sessions tailored to what I want my college experience to look like, orientation was able to ease my worries about the big changes ahead.鈥
