
LOUISVILLE, Ky. 鈥 A on maple tree tapping will be held Feb. 13 on the University of Louisville鈥檚 Belknap Campus.
The free 1 p.m. event will begin inside the Cultural Center Multipurpose Room and move outdoors to the community garden for the tapping demonstration. Maple syrup expert David Barker, who helped UofL tap maple trees on Belknap Campus last year for a biology class project, will lead the event.
Participants will also get a chance to taste a bit of syrup made from , which produced about a half-gallon of syrup.
鈥淲e are always looking for ways to use UofL鈥檚 campus as a living laboratory for sustainability,鈥 said Justin Mog, assistant to the provost for sustainability initiatives. 鈥淭apping maple trees here on our campus is another way to teach about food literacy and urban agriculture.鈥
