LOUISVILLE, Ky. 鈥 The University of Louisville ROTC program and other organizations will team up with the university鈥檚 Prevention, 成人直播, and Advocacy on Campus and in the Community (PEACC) Program to promote discussion of sexual abuse and interpersonal violence during Men of PEACC Week April 11-14, Belknap Campus.
Activities will kick off with 鈥淎 Time for PEACC with ROTC: Break the Silence鈥 Monday, April 11, at 7:30 p.m. at The Avenue in Cardinal Towne. Community partners, student artists and abuse survivors will address sexual assault issues through music and storytelling.
鈥淭he number of incidents of sexual violence is staggering,鈥 said LaMont Johnson, advisor to Men of PEACC, a group of men devoted to ending interpersonal violence. 鈥淏ut the stories give us the impact.鈥
Other Men of PEACC Week activities include:
- 鈥淚t Happened to Us: The Community Impact of Sexual Violence,鈥 a panel discussion on how sexual assault affects victims鈥 families, friends and community, Tuesday, April 12, at 7:30 p.m. at The Avenue.
- 鈥淢eat and Potatoes Series: Forever a Champion 鈥 L1C4,鈥 a panel discussion on hot topics in the news and introduction of a sexual violence survivor who now advocates for victims of sexual assault, Wednesday, April 13, 7:30 p.m. at The Avenue. Part of the 鈥淢eat and Potatoes鈥 series that targets college males on wide-ranging issues/topics.
- 鈥淒ear Survivor,鈥 a workshop in which community members write anonymous letters to anonymous survivors of sexual assault to show concern and support. A film and discussion on the impact of relationship violence will follow. The event will be Thursday, April 14, at 7:30 p.m. at the Cultural Center.
