LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Louis D. Brandeis School of Law at the University of Louisville will award its 2014 Brandeis Medal to Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Eugene Robinson. The medal is the law school’s highest honor.

Robinson is a columnist, author and former assistant managing editor of The Washington Post. He frequently appears on shows such as “Meet the Press,” “Hardball with Chris Matthews,” “Morning Joe” and others as a political analyst. He received a 2009 Pulitzer Prize in commentary for his columns on the 2008 presidential campaign.

“The Brandeis Medal typically goes to people who are powerful advocates for social justice,” said law dean Susan Duncan. “Eugene Robinson is a perfect choice for the award because he has helped our nation better understand how public policy can impact equality, fairness and privacy and the role that the media can play in that process.”

Robinson is the author of three books. His most recent, “Disintegration: The Splintering of Black America,” was published in 2010. He came to UofL in March 2012 to discuss that book as part of a Phi Beta Kappa lecture series.

Robinson will be awarded the medal at an April 2014 ceremony.
