Award-winning Israeli writer-activist to speak March 7 Author noted for antiwar and Holocaust literature, journalism

    LOUISVILLE, Ky. 鈥 Acclaimed Israeli author and peace activist David Grossman will speak at the University of Louisville March 7.

    聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 His free, public talk — 鈥淎n Evening with David Grossman鈥 鈥 is the third annual Jewish Heritage Fund for Excellence lecture at UofL. The event begins at 7:30 p.m. in Chao Auditorium, Ekstrom Library, with a book-signing session afterward.

    Grossman also will lead a free, public master class at 3 p.m. March 7 in Room 300, Bingham Humanities Building, as part of the university鈥檚 Axton Reading Series.

    聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Grossman鈥檚 internationally noted novels and journalistic works have been translated into more than 35 languages and have earned several Israeli literary prizes.

    聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 His fiction includes the 2017 release of 鈥淎 Horse Walks into a Bar,鈥 set in a small Israeli town. His antiwar novel 鈥淭o the End of the Land鈥 appeared on more than a dozen Top 10 Books of 2010 lists. His drama-prose-poetry work 鈥淔alling Out of Time鈥 about parents鈥 grief stemmed from the killing of his soldier son in the Second Lebanon War. Other fiction includes the Holocaust work 鈥淪ee Under: Love,鈥 鈥淪omeone to Run With,鈥 The Book of Intimate Grammar鈥 and 鈥淭he Smile of the Lamb.鈥 His nonfiction includes 鈥淲riting in the Dark: Essays on Literature and Politics,鈥 鈥淒eath as a Way of Life: Israel Ten Years after Oslo,鈥 鈥淪leeping on a Wire: Conversations with Palestinians in Israel鈥 and 鈥淭he Yellow Wind.鈥
