
LOUISVILLE, Ky. 鈥 鈥淩ed-outs鈥 aren鈥檛 only for Cardinal sports events. University of Louisville fans can show school spirit and brush up on Shakespeare with UofL talks and outdoor Kentucky Shakespeare performances June 4, June 19 and July 10 in Louisville鈥檚 Central Park.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The UofL College of Arts and Sciences, Alumni Association and Kentucky Shakespeare are encouraging audience members to wear red to The Bard鈥檚 Cards evenings at Shakespeare in the Park. Talks by theater arts and English professors will begin at 7:15 p.m. on the C. Douglas Ramey Amphitheater stage, where the Kentucky Shakespeare performances will follow at 8 p.m.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The will be:
–June 4: talk by Kevin Gawley, resident scenic and lighting designer, theater arts, before 鈥淭he Two Gentlemen of Verona鈥
–June 19: talk by Hristomir Stanev, Renaissance drama scholar, English, before 鈥淎 Winter鈥檚 Tale鈥
–July 10: talk by Zhanna Goldentul, resident costume designer, theater arts, before 鈥淩omeo and Juliet鈥
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Seating on benches is first come, first served, but patrons also are allowed to bring chairs and blankets. Food and beverages are available for purchase. The park is at 1340 S. Fourth St.; parking is available along the bordering Fourth, Magnolia, Sixth and Park streets.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The events are presented as part of UofL鈥檚 sponsorship of Will in the Ville, a communitywide collaboration marking the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare鈥檚 death with activities surrounding the national First Folio traveling exhibit. Check for more information.
