10th annual Kentucky Women鈥檚 Book Festival brings together readers, writers

    LOUISVILLE, Ky. 鈥 is celebrating its 10-year anniversary March 5 with a full slate of author presentations, book signings and opportunities to mingle with fellow book lovers at UofL鈥檚 Ekstrom Library.

    New this year is a 10th anniversary wine and cheese reception at 4 p.m. at the in which Naslund, a two-time winner of the New York Times Notable Book of the Year, will read. The festival also features New York Times Editor鈥檚 Choice award-winner and Louisville native as the headlining luncheon speaker. James will discuss her new novel 鈥淭he Tusk that Did the Damage鈥 and Naslund, author of 鈥淎hab鈥檚 Wife,鈥 will read and discuss her writing.

    Other speakers include:

    • , author of 鈥淭he Birds of Opulence鈥 (March 2016),聽鈥渁nd 鈥渇ounding member of the Affrilachian Poets, a writing collective based in聽Lexington.
    • Tajuana 鈥淭J鈥 Butler-Jackson, UofL graduate and author of 鈥淪orority Sisters,鈥 鈥淗and-me-down Heartache鈥 and 鈥淭he Night Before Thirty,鈥 among others.
    • , author of聽鈥淲ishbone: A Memoir in Fractures,鈥澛犫淲ithout: Poems and聽Small Fires: Essays鈥澛燼nd the forthcoming collections,聽鈥淪IX鈥澛燼nd 鈥淐atechism: A Love Story.鈥 She teaches creative writing at Florida International University.
    • , author of 鈥淚n the Line of Fire: Raising Kids in a Violent World,鈥 among others and is founder and executive director of Innovations in Peacemaking International.
    • , author of the award-winning 鈥淐ementville,鈥 the story of a small Kentucky town in 1969 after seven of its favored sons were killed in the Vietnam War.
    • , author of 鈥淭he Historic Kentucky Kitchen: Traditional Recipes for Today’s Cook.鈥

    The festival sessions and presentations are free, except for an optional lunch. The festival begins at 9:30 a.m. and the opening session begins at 10 a.m. Luncheon registration is required by March 2 and can be made by calling the UofL Women鈥檚 Center at 502-852-8976. The cost is $10. The UofL Women鈥檚 Center and University Libraries host the event.
