Poetry, film, prose, race, music and culture — there’s a wide range of topics to discuss when about 600 scholars gather Feb. 24–26 at the University of Louisville and the Muhammad Ali Center for the Louisville Conference on Literature and Culture Since 1900.

More than a dozen University of Louisville undergraduate students presented their research projects to state lawmakers last week through Posters-at-the-Capitol.

At its Feb. 8 meeting, the University of Louisville Board of Trustees approved promotions and administrative new hires and the 2011 Alumni Fellows. It also heard reports from President James Ramsey and Kent School of Social Work Dean Terry Singer.

“This is a historic day for the people of Egypt,” U.S. Vice President Joe Biden said to students, faculty, staff and others at the University of Louisville Feb. 11, less than an hour after Hosni Mubarak stepped down as president of Egypt.

Poets, short-story writers and literary translators will read from their works and teach master classes during visits to the University of Louisville this spring for its Axton Reading Series.
