The University of Louisville is teaming up with business leaders to launch the Artificial Intelligence Innovation Consortium, a first-of-its kind alliance for the city.

The University of Louisville is part of the new Artificial Intelligence Innovation Consortium, an alliance that also includes Amazon Web Services, GE Appliances, Amgen, V-Soft Consulting and other companies.

Louisville Business First reports that this alliance is a first-of-its-kind for the city of Louisville.听

According to the story, the AIIC will operate as a think tank of IT and advanced technology focused on how AI can propel the community forward. It will build standards and best practices to drive AI adoption, privacy, data governance, guiding principles and more.听

In 2020, the AIIC plans to open its InnovaLab, with industry-specific incubators to provide a platform from which companies can accelerate their AI development. Industries planning to leverage the lab include pharmaceutical, oil and gas, financial, health care and industrial manufacturing.听
