LOUISVILLE, Ky. 鈥 A free, public on urban maple tree tapping will be held Jan. 18 on the University of Louisville鈥檚 Belknap Campus.

The noon event in community garden outside the Cultural Center, 120 E. Brandeis Ave., will begin with a demonstration, then students and volunteers will tap trees around Belknap Campus.

Workshop leader and Louisville resident has been tapping UofL trees and making syrup from the sap since 2016.

鈥淲e are always looking for ways to use UofL鈥檚 campus as a living laboratory for sustainability,鈥 said Justin Mog, assistant to the provost for sustainability initiatives.

The UofL syrup will be served at a pancake party April 19 in Ekstrom Library.
