Louisville, KY–The University of Louisville has set up a scholarship fund to honor Savannah Walker, a student whose life was taken at an off-campus tragedy March 19.
The Savannah Walker Scholarship will recognize a student who has demonstrated a commitment to social justice, equity and inclusion. Savannah was passionate about social justice and was active in a number of organizations. A Porter Scholar majoring in communications and sport administration, she was a member of UofL鈥檚 Malcolm X Debate Team. She founded the UofL women鈥檚 club lacrosse team and served as its president for two years.
鈥淪avannah was a shining star at the university,鈥 said UofL President Greg Postel. 鈥淪he was committed to excellence in the classroom and to the issues of fairness and equality. We hope this scholarship will encourage other students to follow her lead and make their marks on the university and the community.鈥
