LOUISVILLE, Ky. 鈥 Several dramas, a crime story, a comedy and a documentary span the lineup of the University of Louisville鈥檚 free, public 鈥淩eel Latin America鈥 Film Festival Oct. 3-Nov. 14.
The 26th annual festival, organized by UofL鈥檚 classical and modern languages department, offers multiple screenings of seven films in Spanish or Portuguese with English subtitles. Locations will be on UofL鈥檚 Belknap Campus as well as Speed Art Museum鈥檚 Speed Cinema.
This year鈥檚 offerings are from locations including Cuba, Brazil, Puerto Rico, Chile, Panama and Colombia. UofL faculty or staff members with expertise in film or the movies鈥 social justice themes will introduce some films and lead discussions after the screenings.
The Oct. 3 schedule includes a showing of the 2019 Brazilian dramatic comedy 鈥淥xen, Foxes and Crocodiles鈥 at 7 p.m. in Swain Student Activities Center鈥檚 Floyd Theater, with a post-screening question-and-answer session with its director, Calixto Hakim. Here鈥檚 the rest of the lineup:
