LOUISVILLE, Ky. 鈥 Parents will learn strategies for having open communication with their children and how doing so fosters healthy relationships at the next 鈥淏uilding Hope鈥 lecture on Thursday, Oct. 12.
Laura M. Frey, Ph.D., a licensed marriage and family therapist and assistant professor at the University of Louisville Kent School of Social Work, will present 鈥淕etting More Than 鈥楪ood鈥: Strategies to Encourage Meaningful Discussion with Kids.鈥 The event is part of the 鈥淏uilding Hope鈥 public lecture series sponsored by the UofL Depression Center and will be held at 7 p.m. at Second Presbyterian Church, 3701 Old Brownsboro Road.
鈥淢any people wonder at what age it鈥檚 appropriate to discuss sensitive topics with their children,鈥 Frey said. 鈥淜eeping the lines of communication open are important for ensuring kids get accurate information and that they鈥檒l reach out to us when issues arise.鈥
