LOUISVILLE, Ky. 鈥 An authority on domestic violence and sexual abuse will deliver the keynote address for 鈥淭ake Back the Night,鈥 an annual University of Louisville event that raises awareness about violence against women.
The speaker, Joyce Wilson, is an intake triage specialist at the Domestic Violence Intake Center in Louisville. Wilson has worked since 1971 on legislation including Kentucky鈥檚 Rape Shield Law and the Marital Rape Bill. She also created the award-winning child safety program 鈥淢y Body Belongs to Me鈥 and the video 鈥淚鈥檓 Not Your Plaything.鈥 Wilson also helped implement the Sexual Assault Response Team in Jefferson County and serves as a domestic violence court advocate and a member of the Governor鈥檚 Task Force on Child Abuse, Domestic Violence and Sexual Violence.
Take Back the Night, which is free and open to the public, will be 5:30 p.m.鈥7:30 p.m. Sept. 28 outside of UofL鈥檚 Red Barn. The event is offered by UofL鈥檚 Prevention, 成人直播 and Advocacy on Campus and in the Community (PEACC), which provides support to students, staff and faculty who are affected by dating or domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking and harassment.
