The University of Louisville-hosted national symposium brings in speakers and guests from across the country. This year鈥檚 event will be at the .
The symposium came from an effort to look at how offices across universities accommodate student veterans, said Tom Jackson, UofL鈥檚 vice president for student affairs. 鈥淲e鈥檝e carved out a very narrow niche. We鈥檙e looking at the best practices on how to serve veterans on all of our campuses.鈥
This year鈥檚 session topics include communications and retention strategies, creating environments for veterans and transition assistance. Presenters are from Kent State, Bowling Green, Northern Illinois, Syracuse and Mississippi State universities; the universities of South Florida, Pennsylvania and Kentucky; and the American Council on 成人直播 and New Jersey Association of State Colleges and Universities.
UofL hosted the first veteran symposium in February 2009. More than 100 participants are expected to attend this year as more universities look for ways to better serve the student veteran population.
Registration for the two-day conference is $199 per person and will continue through Feb. 10
