That description applies to the University of Louisville鈥檚 incoming freshman class this fall, the largest and most academically well-prepared in the school鈥檚 history. The new students move into residence halls Wednesday and start classes next week.
Here鈥檚 a quick look at the Fall 2014 class profile:
- 听 听2,908 incoming students have enrolled
- 听 听55 percent are entering with some college credit
- 听 听82 percent are Kentucky residents
- 听 听41 percent are from Jefferson County
- 听 听22 percent are students of color
- 听 听听36 U.S. states are represented
In Fall 2013, UofL鈥檚 incoming students had an average 25.2 ACT score and 52 percent had previous college credit.
鈥淲e continue to attract high-achieving students from all over Kentucky and from many other states,鈥 said UofL President James Ramsey. 鈥淭his shows that UofL is a place top students want to be.鈥澨
A record number of new students will live on campus this fall, said Shannon Staten, UofL鈥檚 housing and residence life director. Based on preliminary figures, 2,050 new students will live in university housing compared to 1,965 last fall, 1,817 in Fall 2012 and 1,730 in Fall 2011.
Biology, nursing, mechanical engineering and psychology remain the most popular declared degree programs for incoming students.
