accreditation goes to early childhood education programs that demonstrate excellence in teaching, relationship-building, health, safety and other areas.
鈥淭his is an honor because it recognizes our high standards,鈥 said ELC director Dianna Zink. 鈥淥nly about 8 percent of all child development centers in the nation hold this distinction.鈥
ELC, also licensed by the , opened in 2008. Most of its 150 children are from families affiliated with UofL or .聽UofL education majors conduct research and enhance their training at the center.
The accreditation is good for five years, during which time the agency may make unannounced visits.
