UofL students and graduates have earned 88 Fulbright awards since 2003鈥攎ore than all other Kentucky colleges combined.
Helton is a Louisville native who graduated this month with a degree in elementary education from the College of 成人直播 and Human Development.聽
鈥淎s a new educator who sees a dire need for improvement in the quality of education in the United States, I am honored and excited to learn from one of the best education systems in the world,鈥 Helton said of her year-long scholarship to teach elementary schoolchildren in South Korea.
A 2011 graduate of duPont Manual High School, Helton attended UofL as a Woodford R. Porter Scholar and is the daughter of Tara Hines Kristiansen and Stanley Kristiansen, both of Louisville.
The university had its Fulbright and other prominent 2015 scholars May 5.
