The UofL Athletic Association board approved the budget at its June 4 meeting.

The $77 million budget includes slight increases in the price of men鈥檚 basketball and football tickets along with spending for new and upgraded facilities.

The ULAA board also approved a $15 million taxable loan from PNC Bank to help cover the upfront costs of the new soccer stadium鈥攆or which officials broke ground last week鈥攁nd a sound system for Papa John鈥檚 Cardinal Stadium. It also will cover additions to Patterson (baseball) and Ulmer (softball) stadiums.

The board鈥檚 personnel committee praised Athletic Director Tom Jurich as it conducted his annual performance review. Committee and faculty member Elaine Wise cited Jurich鈥檚 focus on academics and called him, 鈥渢he best athletics director in the country.鈥

During his report to the board, Jurich introduced Christine Krellwitz as the new senior women鈥檚 administrator. Krellwitz will take on many of the duties former Executive Senior Associate Athletic Director Julie Hermann held before leaving recently to become athletic director at Rutgers University.
