The University of Louisville鈥檚 J. B. Speed School of Engineering will host a Women鈥檚 Leadership Conference Saturday, Feb. 6, in the Swain Student Activities Center, Multipurpose Room, from 9 a.m to 4:30 p.m.

The conference will feature LaDoris 鈥淒ot鈥 Harris, director of the Office of Economic Impact and Diversity in the U.S. Department of Energy, as keynote speaker.

Harris heads the Minorities in Energy Initiative, oversees corporate funding strategy for minority institutions and develops and implements business contracting opportunities.

Harris has received numerous accolades for leadership and her work to champion diversity. She was chosen as the 2015 Women of Color President鈥檚 Award winner, 2014 Diversity Journal 鈥淲omen Worth Watching鈥 Award winner, 2014 Fort Valley State University Platinum Achievement Award winner and the 2013 Black Business Association Chairperson鈥檚 Award winner. She鈥檚 also been featured on the cover of several magazines including the October, 2015, editions of Diversity Women鈥檚 Inclusion and US Black Engineer.

The conference will include breakout sessions on leadership and tools for success in the workforce. Participants will have opportunities to discuss topics affecting women in STEM fields today, as well as chances to network with engineering professionals, faculty and staff

The event is free and open to UofL鈥檚 women engineering students. The lunch and keynote address is also open to educators and high school females who鈥檝e expressed interest in attending UofL鈥檚 J. B. Speed School of Engineering.
