UofL鈥檚 trustees announced the selection of Brown, a professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy, at their April 10 meeting. The highest honor given by the trustees, the award recognizes outstanding contributions to the student experience and carries with it recognition on a plaque in the Swain Student Activities and a prize of $5,000. He will be recognized at Spring Commencement ceremonies.
Brown responded to his selection with 鈥渟urprise and, gosh, disbelief,鈥 he said. 鈥淚鈥檓 very much in awe of all of my colleagues, so this is quite an honor. It鈥檚 just wonderful to be a part of the mission of UofL.鈥
Brown鈥檚 students cited his 鈥渆xcellent teaching skills and his ability to incorporate a holistic approach of addressing students鈥 intellectual, educational, professional and social developments.鈥
