Moyer, 66, has served in the post since 2005. He plans to take a one-year sabbatical to study corporate governance and entrepreneurial finance before he returns as the college鈥檚 dean emeritus and a faculty member in its Department of Finance.

He also will lead the college as it seeks re-accreditation by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business in 2013.

During Moyer鈥檚 tenure, the college earned a reputation as the top business school in Kentucky and its entrepreneurship program has been ranked consistently as one of the best in the nation.

鈥淚t鈥檚 been a privilege to work with our faculty and staff, advisory boards, alumni, supporters, corporate partners and university administration to make the college all it can be,鈥 Moyer said. 鈥淚鈥檓 very proud of all we鈥檝e accomplished and we鈥檙e not finished yet.鈥

UofL will launch a national search for Moyer鈥檚 successor next spring.

鈥淚鈥檓 a big fan of Charlie Moyer鈥檚,鈥 said UofL President James Ramsey. 鈥淗e鈥檚 continued the transformation and the commitment to quality and excellence in our business school. I鈥檓 elated that he鈥檚 agreed to delay his retirement for 20 months.鈥

Besides establishing at UofL the Forcht Center for Enterpreneurship, Moyer developed and expanded the university鈥檚 corporate partnerships and sharpened the College of Business鈥 focus on regional economic development. He also added distinguished faculty and raised academic standards for students.

Earlier this year, a team of students in the college鈥檚 entrepreneurship MBA program took top honors in one of the world鈥檚 most prestigious business competitions.
