McConnell is a diehard UofL football fan who was ecstatic about the school鈥檚 move to the ACC.
鈥淭he ACC has a great history, a proud athletic tradition, and is home to some truly astonishing academic schools鈥 McConnell said.聽 鈥淭hanks to Jim鈥檚 work as president over the last decade, the University of Louisville is able to stand toe to toe with any of them, in any of those categories.鈥
McConnell listed UofL鈥檚 other successes in academics, research and community engagement on Ramsey鈥檚 watch while adding, 鈥淚 certainly hope Jim will be at the helm of UofL for a long time to come. I look forward to working with him on ways to better the school and the city that we both love.鈥
