The classes are 鈥渁ll about living life fully,鈥 said program Director Anita Sturgill Block, noting that New Year鈥檚 resolutions often inspire people to sign up for classes in January.
鈥淧eople love to be a part of the latest trend and microbrewing is emerging as a fun and popular hobby,鈥 said Block. 鈥淲e also think our new class on the nuances of Irish whiskey will be popular this year.鈥
UofL鈥檚 Lifelong Learning offers more than 30 traditional face-to-face classes in addition to more than 300 online courses. Most classes are held at Shelby Campus and cost from $49 to $199, depending on the number of sessions and related supplies or books. New offerings for spring 2013 include:
- Craft Beer 101, starts Feb. 4, four sessions, $99
- Organic Gardening, starts Feb. 19, five sessions, $99
- Irish Whiskeys, one-day workshop March 11, $49
- The Art of Thrift and Consignment Shopping, one-day workshop March 25 and field trip March 30, $39
- Twitter 101: Staying in Touch with Family and Friends, starts April 8, three sessions, $69
